On Sunday, Rajya Sabha passed two of the three farm reforms bills amidst scenes of uproar inside the Upper House by the opposition, street agitations by farmers who are defying restrictions imposed by the pandemic in Punjab and Haryana, resignation by a minister of one of the BJP oldest partners, SAD(B), from the NDA ministry.
Though PM Modi has reiterated that farmers will benefit from the changes,first mentioned as part of the Atmanirbhar Bharat Abhiyan package. The Bills replaced three ordinances promulgated earlier.
