SACRILEGE AND LYNCHING

Recently, a man was lynched to death in Amritsar for allegedly trying to desecrate the Guru Granth Sahib at the Golden Temple. Sikhs regard the Guru Granth Sahib as not just the holy scripture of their religion but also as the living Guru. Therefore sacrilege is considered as heinous as a murder.
After the incident, most of the religious and political leaders condemned the attempt at sacrilege in the strongest possible terms, but maintained a complete silence on the brutal lynching of the accused.

Should mob violence and vigilantism be allowed to desecrate the rule of law?
